AFDA, the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance is a private higher education institution which offers a wide range of degrees in film, television, live performance and business innovation.​AFDA has campuses across the country, specifically within Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Botswana as well as being internationally recognized.

A number of AFDA films have been exhibited at international festivals and winning a number of awards, including a student Oscar in 2006.

As an institution, AFDA is culturally invested in the student body, offering a unique higher education environment where outcome-based and collaborative learning empowers students with competitive, professional and innovative skills to enter the industry.

Annually, each AFDA campus holds a Graduation Festival which provides the 3rd years an opportunity in which to showcase their Experimental productions and acts as a platform in which to launch each individual's career.

At the Graduation Festival which will be held on the 24th of November, there will be a number of films and television productions on show which provides members of the public and the industry to watch these productions both online and at Gateway: Ster-Kinekor at 16:30 on the 27th of Nov.

At the 2021 Experimental Festival, there will be 8 undergraduate film productions with a running time of 12 minutes and two undergraduate documentaries with a running time of 20 minutes.
